That's great Phil. Some people get away easier than others. In some cases the JWs relentlessly hound (to the point of harassment) peopl trying to break free. Welcome to the world of the sane and say goodbye to mind control, lies and the insane lifestyle.

Well Metron the 1st amendment can't be used as a tool to defraud people. Remember they have made many claims and promises that only until recently are obviously not coming to fruition. The claims were made as a means of obtaining a financial gain (in this case tens of billions of dollars). You can't hide behind religion to avoid liability otherwise organized crime would be calling themselves a religion and asking for 1st amendment exemption.
The first amendment may allow them to decide who they wish to remove through disfellowshipment but it I believe it does not allow them to promise physical rewards in return for money and labour and then not deliver. Sooner or later someone or some people will band together and test this very unique (but I believe valid) case in a U.S. court of law.

The 2004 Report. What do you think it wiil show?
by aniron inhaving read "seven006" posting "the information age and new jw marketing changes" and the view it put forward of were the watchtower found itself now.. i was wondering what the 2004 service year report would show.
i think there will be a small increase, due to there play on world events and the usually jw family members getting baptised to please parents etc.
anyone else have any views on what it could be.

I wonder if it will show that pediphilia and cover-ups are still rampant and increasing in the Jehovah's Witness cult?

Well let's see what we know from our own personal experiences:
They promote and enforce shunning on one's own family for reasons as simple as questioning the accuracy of Watchtower teachings.
They have a code of conduct for almost every action in life which is enforced.
They encourage even minor children to decieve authorites to protect the Watchtower's interests (see the Watchtower booklet distributed to children in the U.S. and Canada which instructs them to decieve family court Judges about their practices and instructs them on how to provide false testimony in family court cases)
They have used a date for the end of the world coming but where only JWs would be saved in order to extract free (some call slave) labour en masse and billions of dollars in sales revenue from their publications on how to save oneself in the final war.
Inspite of the dates coming and being long past they continue to hold firmly in their mind control countless members who are apparently in denial.
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...it's a duck.

Hard to get over: No New System
by confusedjw ini have to tell you something.. i really find it hard getting over the idea of no new system and all that it meant to me.
to be with my children and their children forever in perfect health.. too many days it just leaves me empty.
i just wish i could shake it and enjoy life, but the idea that we just live for 70 years and die kills me.

Yep I'm just waitng for the class action lawsuit from old folks and children of JWs who have already died. If any corporation or individual made promises like the Watchtower did "Millions now living will never die" and the generation that was alive in 1914 will witness the end of the world and will be given a paradise on Earth with everything provided and never age as long as they donated there time and money to buying and distributing Watchtower literature now, well there would be lawsuits for sure.
If an individual or company asked investors to invest all of their family savings (forego higher education and go door to door selling watchtower publications, buy all our publications year after year) and promised enormous wealth and permanent finacial stability (physical paradise on earth with no fear of growing old) guaranteed in 1914 and again in the 30s with "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" not only would the lawsuits fly but Government regulatory bodies would be shutting their BS down. Could you imagine also in the medical, pharmaceutical or herbal health industries if they made promises of "you take this pill or get this procaedure and you'll never die". They'd be shut down fast.

Job Description for a G.B. member?
by link inhaving explained to my "ever loving" how you do not need money to live like a millionaire, i get told that nobody in the world works as hard as the members of the governing body.
their schedule of writing tasks, world travel and giving talks at conventions and assemblies is exhausting because it is never ending.
they never have time to draw breath before their next assignment and their busy schedules would kill many people half their age.. is this correct?
-
Happy Guy :)
It's fairly obvious to me that the Pope does far more than the 12 members of the Governing Body of the JWs and he is very old so this nonsense about their schedules being so busy it would kill men half their age sounds like more JW wild stories and crazy propoganda.
You know I have met some exaggeraters in my life but the JWs, as a group, are without a doubt the largest BSers I have ever met. I have met so many JWs who can flip a lie at the drop of a dime and not even flinch over the moral aspect of it for one second. It seems that they will say whatever is necessary to give strength or credibility to their claims or to protect their cult. I apologize if I have offended some of you who are ex JWs but this has been my experience.
